Here’s the deal, I am an advocate for those commonly misunderstood. While a therapist, board-certified licensed counselor, part-time professor and now consultant, my ultimate desire is never to stop being a student. While offering exceptional services, my ultimate goal is to continually apply the concept of “Tau” “Zou,” Beginners Mind. When operating from a beginner’s mind, there are many possibilities.
At Neurodiversetalk, my work is to educate, guide, and coach you to overcome patterns that no longer serve you and your relationships. Having completed seven years of graduate work, over ten thousand client hours, multiple research publications, and two decades of navigating differences in neurology, I bring a vast range of experience to my client base. In addition, I have expanded my education in mindfulness, yoga, cognitive diversity, expressive arts, systematic change, behavior change, design thinking, and human development. Through qualitative (stories) and quantitative (data), my research aims to discover patterns, systems, and more knowledge to better advocate for and educate those that often go unseen. My work is to see those in which are unseen and translate for that which is unspoken. This is what gets me up in the morning. With an analytical mind, I look at life from an inside-out perspective to understand our why (emotion) to formulate the how (logic, rationalization). I have spent many years finding meaning in who I am and what I do to excel in it. For example, why am I stuck, and what is this representing? My obsession has been understanding what I do, why I do it, and how to change if the desire is there. I was fortunate to attend North Carolina State University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program to complete my Master's degree and then my Doctorate. I have changed people’s perspectives and understandings of themselves and their environments. For my transformations and self-mastery, I have sought out teachers and wise elders throughout twenty-nine countries, from Japan to Ireland, Canada, and within the United States. Now located in a historic neighborhood of San Francisco, California, I have created Neurodiversetalk to serve a diverse range of clients globally. Currently, I hold teaching appointments at four universities: I'm a part-time or lecture professor for the Counseling Department at Saint Mary's College of California, for the Clinical Psychology department at the California Institute of Integral Studies, for the College of Health & Social Sciences at San Francisco State University, and recently joined the College of Education Counseling Department at Oregon State University. This is not enough. I have been restless to provide what I have learned and continuously serve those struggling on a larger scale. As a consultant, I provide my clients' education, resources, and tools to expand perspectives and reach new potential within their relationships and themselves. To see yourself and have the option to make changes through calculated action is one of the ideal milestones of this work. With so many professionals out there, I have often wondered if I had what it takes if my message was worth saying? This is what I have figured out. My specialty is bringing a cognitively diverse population and advocacy together. I help decipher complicated behavioral patterns into valuable insights through my love of understanding people. Likewise, I am and have always been a designer. While not your typical designer, I am a systems designer. Regardless of your neurological makeup, I believe all people can design the life they want when they take the time to understand themselves with knowledge, self-awareness, and compassion. My mission is to help you maximize your potential on multiple levels and in many dimensions. This is why I exist. And why I want to serve. |
